Getting professional painting ideas for your home can make you money by letting you sell your house for more, sell it easier, and sell it faster.

Plus, you can shave years off of trial and error, making your home look its best. Learning the secrets of choosing the right colors can make your home have great curb appeal!

Many people buy a new home and decide to paint it their selves. We all think we know all about painting but in reality it doesn’t take long to screw up a nice piece of property.

Things like using the wrong paint, cheap paint, or not taking the time to plan out a custom paint job and its color combinations, etc.

Here’s a Good Tip:

Use custom color paint brochures for choosing two and three-color combinations. Paint stores have these brochures for both interior and exterior colors.

If you drive by some people’s homes, you will always see at least one property with odd colors on the front door and shutters.

If you want to start a painting business, having knowledge of colors can make you big money.

3 Reasons Why Exterior Painting Is Way Different Compared To Interior Painting http://paintingbusinessman.com/3-reasons-why-exterior-painting-is-different-compared-to-interior-painting/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/3-reasons-why-exterior-painting-is-different-compared-to-interior-painting/#respond Sat, 12 Apr 2025 13:21:19 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9948

As a professional house painter, I have found over the years that interior painting can be quite a bit different from exterior. It’s like a whole different world compared to outside work.

1.) Both have their advantages. Interior painting is lighter work and can be more specialized. But with the exterior, you usually have more prep work.

The biggest thing about painting inside is knowing what sheen level to use for ceilings, walls, and woodwork and for which rooms. This is all easy peasy common sense.

When it comes to exterior painting, it’s all about getting the outside walls or siding ready so they can be painted. I usually prep just one side of the property at a time for this and then paint it.

You usually have more room outside and fresh air. Plenty of shade trees are nice too. All you need is a work radio and some cold pop and snacks on hand.

2.) Exterior high work means more man-hours of labor whereas interior painting can be about more set up time, and being careful of furniture, carpeting and people being home. A good exterior estimating system can remedy all of this.

3.) Weather – Sunny days are good for interior painting because you can see so much better inside even though you may have fluorescent floodlighting. When it comes to exterior painting, cloud cover can be nice because of the shade.

Plus, you may have rainy days, which means you can take a day off. Some years, I worked outside from spring to fall. I loved it. I always worked just Monday thru Friday while everyone in the neighborhood was gone to work, which makes it nice because you have the whole neighborhood to yourself.

In the beginning, it was so nice to do my own thing instead of working for a boss. I could take my time, enjoy my work, and come and go as I pleased. And the money was instant because of getting down payments and progress checks along the way.

Big Painting Profits – How To Make Any Home Look Great http://paintingbusinessman.com/big-painting-profits-how-to-make-any-home-look-great/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/big-painting-profits-how-to-make-any-home-look-great/#respond Fri, 21 Mar 2025 13:48:33 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9926

Custom painting is more than an art. Many people “think” they know how to paint. Yes, it takes a real pro or someone who really loves to paint to do a really good job.

3 Things To Know:

1.) Use the best paint on the planet so each project looks its best. Right now, I like the Sherwin-Williams Emerald line. Whether interior or exterior, this stuff makes painting easy, and it looks good when finished.

Custom painting starts with a good exterior paint job. I always use historic paint brochures or brochures that have standardized 3-color combinations to choose a color scheme from.

That way you don’t wind up with an odd-looking colors on your shutters or your front door making it look like a clown house.

The same thing goes for interior painting. Interior color brochures and interior 3-color combination brochures will give you an idea for the right colors or color scheme.

2.) I always tell people to look at the color of the brick colors or the floor tile colors to choose a shade or color from. Or the stain color of your floors and woodwork and go from there. The same thing goes for exterior painting. Start with the existing brick or stone color.

Many people today don’t pay much attention to their ceilings either. They want just the walls painted. Why waste a good paint job by ignoring the ceiling?

3.) A beautiful paint job for a bedroom or a living room should consist of a flat finish ceiling (preferably white), a matte finish on the walls, and a satin enamel finish on the woodwork and trim. These sheenes are the best looking for these types of rooms that don’t have to be washed all the time.

The most important part is the prep work. This part takes a pro in some cases. My course called “How To Paint Like a Pro Estimating & Advertising System” will show you how to do prep work super-fast and easy.

Big Profit Painter’s Tips For High-End Home Estimates http://paintingbusinessman.com/big-profit-painters-tips-for-high-end-home-estimates/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/big-profit-painters-tips-for-high-end-home-estimates/#respond Tue, 18 Mar 2025 13:37:27 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9874

When I first decided to start my own painting business I thought I knew how to paint. Nothing was further from the truth. There is more to painting than just being a good painter, although that is a top selling point!

As a professional house painter, people won’t see the mistakes whether you’re doing a good job or making mistakes you and I will see. I can still remember the mistakes I made on my first painting job, doing an exterior home.

The usual scenario that I notice is new homeowners that buy a really nice home someone else owned for years and took great care of. And they decide to paint a room and they screw up the beautiful custom painting work some professionals did.

They make mistakes like putting latex paint over oil-base gloss and screwing up what maybe was a professional custom paint job in a really nice home by using cheap paint.

The results are things like peeling or chipping paint due to the lack of using an enamel undercoater type primer first. I mean, who knew unless trained?

The other extremes are like using the wrong sheen level or choice of colors. These things can destroy an expensive custom paint job and bring down the value of the property.

With the right knowledge, painters can make a residential property stand out first-class in a nice neighbourhood and get paid well for it!

3 Reasons Why An Amazingstarmurals Painting Business Is Good To Start http://paintingbusinessman.com/3-reasons-why-an-amazingstarmurals-painting-business-is-good-to-start/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/3-reasons-why-an-amazingstarmurals-painting-business-is-good-to-start/#respond Wed, 12 Mar 2025 15:59:19 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9850

Hi, Leon Cusano here from  www.Amazingstarmurals.com.

Here are “3 Reasons Why An ‘Amazingstarmurals’ Painting Business Is Good To Start”.

#1. ‘People love lights’ – they love everything from the Fourth of July to Las Vegas. Just listen for the ‘oohs and the ahhs’ next time and the crowd turn out!

#2. ‘Word of Mouth’ can give you tons of free business. Whenever you have family, friends or relatives over, the first thing you always want to do is show them something cool. Just think of the free leads you could get! And referrals are the best leads you can get.

#3. Star paint is low-cost and can be mixed in small quantities for freshness. And you only need you and maybe a helper to do a ceiling. You can make a week’s wages in a single day because you are creating a mural.

What’s revealed in the course: There are SEVEN quick-start videos that will explain every important application detail that can have you doing ultra-professional star murals right away and making money as soon as possible.

P.S. I heard that by the year 2030, 80% of jobs may be replaced by A.I. I doubt if skilled jobs like painting star murals will be (where we go, no computer can follow).

Painting Business: Superior Coatings For Making A Profit http://paintingbusinessman.com/some-of-the-best-house-paints-for-homes-and-commercial-jobs/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/some-of-the-best-house-paints-for-homes-and-commercial-jobs/#respond Mon, 10 Mar 2025 16:17:40 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9802

As a professional painter, I have found that when it comes to house paint, certain products perform best for certain tasks and can save you both time and money and look good when you’re done.

Take ceilings for an example. Many painters struggle with lap lines and sheen marks and messing with those things eat up hours. The best product I have ever used on ceilings was actually a primer made by Porter Paints called “Blanket” (PP 1129). It’s basically a high-hiding solid white ‘block out’ primer that looks like a pure white blanket on your ceiling.

Do two coats and you’re done. And it can be re-coated in just an hour – not 4 hours like regular paint (more time saved).

The downside is it is not readily available unless your paint store carries it. That’s what I love about Sherwin-Williams. Not only do they have a store on each side of town, they have everything under ‘one roof’ that painters need. Everything from brushes and rollers to commercial coatings and more.

Plus, their paints have gotten quite good over the years.

While nobody would even think of using a primer as a ceiling paint, this stuff works and looks great! It leaves a soft, pure white, flat, even finish with no streaks or lap lines. You can tint it to whatever color you want. It also makes a great block-out primer.

Now the benefits to using this ‘Porter Blanket’ solid white primer is that it grabs tight to any surface because it’s a primer. And it can be re-coated in only an hour and coverage is about 150 more square feet per gallon than regular paint and it’s cheaper per gallon too.

Also, you can tell where you have to roll on the second coat way easier because the first coat shows up like a primer but the second coat looks like a pure white solid blanket if you will.

Painting Business Profits: How To Make Any Home Or Business Look Like a Million Dollars http://paintingbusinessman.com/custom-painting-business-how-to-make-any-home-look-great/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/custom-painting-business-how-to-make-any-home-look-great/#respond Fri, 07 Mar 2025 20:11:15 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9757

Custom painting is an art form. If you want to have lots of profitable weeks and get the best cash-paying jobs, learn how to do quality, professional work.  Many people “think” they know how to paint (including me at one time). It takes ‘learned’ pro techniques to do a really good job. I still can learn newer and better ways to use professional paint jobs.

I walked into an office space one time and saw the most beautiful paint job ever. The walls were money-green and had a very nice finish and a smooth-looking sheen level. The contractor must have been proud.

For painting exterior homes, I always use historic paint brochures and the exterior 3-color paint brochures to choose a color scheme with. If you are good with colors, You could choose great colors on your own. These people are rare.

By using 3-color Historical Brochures, you won’t wind up with odd-looking colors on your shutters and front door making it look like a clown’s fun-house.

The same thing goes for interior painting. Historic color brochures and interior 3-color combination brochures will give you an idea for the right color schemes for each room.

I always tell people to look at the existing brick or tile colors of your floor. Or the stain color of your floor and woodwork and go from there. The same thing goes for exterior painting. Start with the existing brick or stone colors to work off of when choosing colors.

Many people today don’t pay much attention to their ceilings. They want just the walls painted. It’s kind of like taking a bath without washing your hair.

A beautiful paint job for a bedroom, living room, etc. should consist of a nice flat ceiling white, a matte finish on the walls and a satin enamel finish on the woodwork and trim. Bathrooms and kitchens need a washable finish.

The most important part is the prep work. This part takes a pro in some cases. I have learned how to make my prep work go fast and a lot more fun that what other painters do.

Painting Business: How To Help Home Owners Choose Colors http://paintingbusinessman.com/painting-ideas-for-customers-homes/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/painting-ideas-for-customers-homes/#respond Tue, 04 Mar 2025 19:09:29 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9662

Giving professional painting ideas or suggestions to homeowners can make you look professional and give you lots of juicy cash-paying referrals because of it. You can shave years off of trial and error making your customers’ homes look their best simply by using a few simple free tools called paint color brochures.

I like the ones that have traditional 3-color combinations that look ‘right’ or normal together.

Many people (who could afford to hire a professional painter) buy a home and decide to paint it themselves. They know nothing about painting techniques and it doesn’t take long to screw up a nice piece of property.

Things like using the wrong products and finishes or not taking the time to plan out a custom paint job and its color schemes etc. It’s like “who knew?”

Here’s a Simple Idea:

For example, if doing exterior painting, use custom color brochures when choosing two and three-color combinations so you get it right. Paint stores have these standardized brochures for both interior and exterior painting.

If you drive by some homes in a nice area, you will sometimes see goofy colors on the outside or on the front door and shutters. Instead, they could have used a color brochure or the exact paint and color codes they used when the home was built if it’s a fairly new home.

I did an exterior job a few years back. The paint store had the original colors and the exact brands that were used that came from that paint store. All these were probably from the building contractor. So that was an easy job set-up. I needed four main colors including the porch floor and the exact color in shutter stain.

I will also look to see if the customer has any stored paint cans for what was last used last if they want to stick with the same colors, the custom color codes, etc.

P.S. I also use color (fan deck) decks. These have colors in gradual shades. Someone who is ‘gifted’ with choosing colors can do good with a fan deck. For the rest of us, using standardized 3-color combination brochures (available at paint stores) works best.

Exterior Painting Tips For Profits http://paintingbusinessman.com/exterior-painting-tips-for-profits/ http://paintingbusinessman.com/exterior-painting-tips-for-profits/#respond Sun, 02 Mar 2025 05:15:52 +0000 https://paintingbusinessman.com/?p=9634

Exterior Painting – Valuable Color Tips For Doing Professional Work

I love it when spring comes around and I can start my exterior painting season. Some years, I have painted outside from spring until fall and loved every minute of it. You get plenty of fresh air, and it’s not crowded as it can be painting indoors. You don’t need all the tools you would need for interior work, either.

The main thing about exterior painting is that if you are going to help customers choose colours you should get yourself a colour brochure that has standardized exterior colours inside (3-colour combinations) and not just a fan deck of colours. You need to know what you are doing.

Exterior colour brochures are made of standardized colours that will look normal on your house and not turn it into an insane clown posy madhouse. With a colour brochure, you generally have two or three colour schemes that are normal looking and are standard for exterior house painting.

Another important factor is that when choosing colours is that if you have brick on your house or stonework you need to choose colours that are going to match those existing surfaces because in most cases they are permanent.

There’s also the style of the house. Some houses may go better with certain colours because of the very style of them. It’s like automobiles. Some colours go better with certain body styles than with others. So these are things to remember when planning your painting projects and if you’re choosing anything to be different in colour. Looking through magazines or at other fine homes for ideas may help.
